It includes four holograph letters written to Katharine from friends, including two letters written to her from Samantha Arnold, her sister-in-law, regarding the death of Katharine's husband, William Jenkins Salisbury. It also includes typed copies of letters written by Katharine to Brigham Young, George Albert Smith, Orson Pratt, and John Taylor. In addition it includes nine holograph letters written by Don Carlos Salisbury, Katharine's son, to various friends and family members while he was serving in the Civil War; fifteen hand-copied and typed copies of letters written by Don Carlos during the Civil War, including copies of some letters for which there are no originals in the collection; and eight holographic letters written to and from Don Carlos Salisbury from various friends and family after his service in the Civil War. The collection also includes correspondence and cards sent between George Albert Smith and his descendants to the descendants of Don Carlos Salisbury; the Smith and Salisbury families seemed to have a cordial relationship. Finally, the collection contains various photographs of the Salisbury family. Most noteable among these are several photographs of Katharine's children, including one photograph of Katharine sitting by her youngest son, Frederick V. Salisbury; several photographs of Don C. Salisbury and his wife, Sibian Salisbury; and 3 portraits of Katharine surrounded by her descendants.
